Kids and Teens – Posture

Good Posture

Maintaining proper posture is essential for individuals of all ages, including children, teenagers, and adults. It plays a crucial role in aligning the body, preventing muscle strain and tension, and ensuring that body weight is evenly distributed. Good posture is fundamental to overall health.

In today’s digital age, many children and teenagers spend significant time on their phones, often with their heads bent forward. This posture can lead to neck strain and may also contribute to feelings of anxiety. To mitigate these effects, it is beneficial to introduce simple yoga stretches that they can perform after prolonged phone use. Below are several recommended stretches to help alleviate tension.

  1. Gentle rotation of the neck
  2. Tapping the crown of the head and the neck
  3. Standing spinal Twist pose

There are a few safe ways to sit whilst holding the phone.

  1.  Bound angle pose, leaning forward whilst the phone is at a distance.
  2. Sphinx pose with the legs bend at the back.
  3. Legs on the wall holding the phone up.

While these poses may appear challenging, they are designed to be safe for the neck and promote proper body alignment, ultimately helping to alleviate anxiety.
